Having Rodrigo available against Arsenal will be a “massive boost” for Leeds United, according to Darren Bent.
The former Tottenham and England striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, has insisted the Spain international can be a “game-changer” for Marcelo Bielsa.
As confirmed by Marcelo Bielsa at his pre-match press conference, Rodrigo will be available for Sunday’s game after a period of self-isolation following a positive Covid-19 test.
However, the Argentine boss suggested the summer signing would likely be named among the substitutes against the Gunners, rather than in the starting XI.
Bent has insisted Leeds need players who can come on and turn a game in their favour and lauded the return of Rodrigo to the squad.
Asked if the 29-year-old could be the game-changer Leeds needed, Bent told Football Insider: “Yeah, he’s got those kind of dynamics. I mean, going forward, Patrick Bamford has had an unbelievable start to the season, he’s been absolutely superb.
“Helder Costa, for me, has been kind of hit or miss, shown signs here and there but not great, I think Jack Harrison has done well, done really well at the start the season, but you’re right, when these guys are starting, they’ve not really got someone who, if things are not going well, that kind of game-changer like Rodrigo did, I think it was against Manchester City.

“Having him back, that game-changer – listen, I know he’d want to play more, get more opportunities to start but unfortunately Bamford’s made that shirt his own and is playing really, really well.
“To have that quality and strength in depth in the advanced areas, the attacking areas, then I’m all for that. So having him back is a massive, massive boost.”
