Rangers are expecting late-window offers for Alfredo Morelos ahead of Monday night’s deadline, Football Insider has learned.
But the Glasgow giants are not willing to let their star striker go for a knockdown fee.
Ibrox sources have told Football Insider that the club will only sell Morelos in the final days of the window if their asking price is met.
That remains around the £15million mark and could prove a barrier too high for the Colombia international’s suitors.
French clubs Lille and Rennes have been most strongly linked with the front man in this window, but they and the player’s other suitors including AC Milan have not been able to agree a fee with Rangers.
Nevertheless, the possibility of Morelos leaving in the next 48 hours is not over, despite him winning praise from Steven Gerrard for his improved attitude in recent weeks.
The striker was dropped earlier in the season, when the arrival of duo Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten for combined fees of more than £7m appeared to make the Colombian’s exit inevitable.
But Morelos has regained his position as the first choice centre-forward at Ibrox.
Gerrard selected him ahead of Jermain Defoe and Itten to start the last four Rangers matches, including Thursday’s Europa League qualifier win against Galatasaray at Ibrox.
Morelos has now scored five goals from 10 matches this season as well as supplied three assists.
