Exclusive: Birmingham City make move to sign Jamie Vardy
Birmingham City have registered their interest in signing Jamie Vardy this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The Premier League legend is one of the most high-profile free agents on the market after he left Leicester City at the end of last month.
Vardy, 38, has attracted interest from Wolves and Rangers, as well as top Championship and European clubs as he looks to extend his playing career.
Now, hugely ambitious Birmingham are plotting a formal move for the striker as they eye back-to-back promotions as part of their long-term plan.
Vardy has been busy preparing for the new season by working with his own fitness and conditioning trainers in order to stay in shape and let clubs know he is ready to hit the ground running.

Birmingham City to beat Wolves and Rangers to Jamie Vardy deal
Football Insider revealed in May that Vardy wants to remain in the Premier League after leaving Leicester as he wants a chance at a swansong at the top level.
Wolves were believed to be leading the race amid rival interest from Leeds, before Football Insider revealed Rangers have opened preliminary talks with Vardy.
However, Birmingham are prepared to make the 38-year-old a key part of their ambitious plans and believe they can compete with top-tier rivals for his signature.
This comes as the American owners hold lofty aspirations of raising the club’s profile and returning to the Premier League in the next couple of seasons.
A Premier League and FA Cup winner who has scored 143 Premier League goals in 339 appearances is exactly the type of high-profile name Birmingham are eyeing.

Charlie Savage race hots up as Blues join Wrexham and Blackburn
Alongside their ambitions of signing Vardy this summer, Birmingham have also set their sights on younger stars to add to their long-term plans.
Football Insider exclusively revealed that Birmingham want to sign Reading’s Charlie Savage and are prepared to race Wrexham and Blackburn for his signature.
The Wales international is also attracting interest from abroad after establishing himself as one of the most exciting young players in the EFL.
Reading value the creative midfielder in the £2million bracket and are prepared to let him leave as interest continue to grow.
