Bruce Exclusive: Reaction to Leeds plotting another reported Brentford raid
Alex Bruce has claimed Rico Henry would be a “good addition” for Leeds United amid reports linking them with the Brentford defender.
The former Leeds defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, suggested Whites’ boss Marcelo Bielsa “will want to strengthen” his squad following promotion to the Premier League.
Leeds are plotting to raid Brentford for the services of the 23-year-old left-back, according to the Daily Mail.
The Yorkshire giants, who are among the many clubs keen on Bees playmaker Said Benrahma, will be looking to add more quality to their ranks, as they prepare for a first top-flight season in 16 years.
“As I’ve said before, after getting into the Premier League, Bielsa will want to strengthen in areas and whether it’s at centre-half or wherever he wants we’ll have to see,” Bruce told Football Insider.
“Bielsa is an experienced manager and he’ll know exactly what he wants, it’s just a case of getting the right players on board and if he sees him as one of them it’ll be a good addition.”

Henry signed for the Bees from Walsall in 2016 and his current deal expires in 2023, meaning Brentford are likely to command a high fee.
He played an important role in the Bees reaching the Championship playoff final this past season, with three assists in 51 appearances for the London side.
Thomas Frank’s side were beaten by Fulham in the Championship play-off final at Wembley on Tuesday evening, which is likely to lead to an interesting summer transfer window, as their key players are expected to attract interest.
They will not be joined in the Championship by Bielsa’s men, who secured promotion to the Premier League in July.
They clinched the title with two games to spare, finishing 10 points clear of nearest challengers West Brom.
