Exclusive: Bruce names the two Leeds players who will find it easy in PL next season

Alex Bruce has tipped Leeds United duo Kalvin Phillips and Pablo Hernandez to thrive in the Premier League if the club are promoted this season.

The former Leeds defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, claims the pressures of playing at such a big club will make the transition easier for the Whites.

While Hernandez has 57 top-flight appearances under his belt from his time at Swansea City, Phillips has only ever played in the Championship.

Despite his lack of experience, Bruce has tipped the “outstanding” midfielder to make his mark among England’s elite.

Asked who he thought would find the transition easy, Bruce told Football Insider: “I think the outstanding one is obviously Phillips, the midfielder. I think he’s a very, very good player.

“You’ve got the likes of Hernandez who have got the pedigree in the game and I’m sure will take to the Premier League.

“When you can handle playing for a club like Leeds United at any level and do well, especially in the Championship, and do well consistently in front of the big crowd and the pressure it brings, I think that because of those pressures they’ll probably find it easier than most making that step up.”

Hernandez has the most Premier League experience of anyone in the Leeds squad, with five goals and 15 assists under his belt.

Midfielder Adam Forshaw, striker Patrick Bamford and winger Helder Costa are the only other players with over 20 appearances in the top flight.

In other Leeds United news, Darren Bent believes the Whites have a potential Premier League attacking star in their ranks.
