Danny Mills claims that Christian Eriksen’s representatives are still working on securing the Danish midfielder an exit from Tottenham despite a lack of speculation surrounding his future.

The former England defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, says that regardless of the notable lull in rumours, his team will be exploring a number of different options when it comes to a move elsewhere.

Eriksen has already admitted he would be open to leaving Spurs this summer, telling Ekstra Bladet that he was looking for a new challenge after six years at the club.

Mills insists that the silence surrounding his future does not mean moves are not being made to seal an exit and that Tottenham must realise there is a significant possibility he will leave before the end of the summer window.

“It’s interesting, Mino (Raiola) has come out and said Pogba’s looking for a new venture, or words to that effect, and the world has gone crazy,” Mills told Football Insider.

“Eriksen came out and said it a long time ago but the speculation around Eriksen almost seems to be null and void. I’m sure his team and his agents are working behind-the-scenes on different options and different situations, but Tottenham will have to be prepared there is a good chance he will leave.

“I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t, the fact he publicly said he wanted a new challenge, he must know something is in the offing. He must know there is some sort of deal on the table somewhere along the line. It would be naive and a bit daft to come out and say you want a new challenge if you’ve have nowhere else to go.

Eriksen, 27, has made 277 appearances for Tottenham during his time in the English capital, 206 of those coming in the Premier League.

The 89-cap international enjoyed a fruitful 2018/19 campaign for Spurs, scoring 10 goals and chipping in with 17 assists as he helped the club to the Champions League final.
