Darren Bent believes Celtic attacker Odsonne Edouard must join Manchester United if they make a move.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-England international admitted that with Manchester United being one of the biggest clubs in the world then Edouard can’t turn them down.
It was recently reported that Premier League giants Manchester United, as well as Crystal Palace, had an interest in signing the French forward.
Bent explained that Edouard has to back himself to be good enough for Man United so if they offer him the chance to join, he has to make the humongous step up and play for them.
When asked if Manchester United would be the right move for Edouard, Bent told Football Insider: “That’s a big step up, a humongous step up, it’s massive.
“Yes Celtic are a massive club in the Scottish league but you’re talking about going to one of the biggest clubs in the world who are in the most competitive league in the world.
“We saw Henrik Larsson come down from Celtic and do really well for United, he was brilliant, but I’m not quite sure.
“If the opportunity comes, you have to back yourself, you have to take it.
“Absolutely got to take it.”
Edouard has scored 16 goals as well as registered 15 assists across the 31 appearances he has made for the Hoops so far this season.
The 21-year-old, who joined Neil Lennon’s side from Paris Saint-Germain, is contracted to stay at Parkhead until 2022.
