Exclusive: Darren Bent delighted as 'Great signing' reportedly on the cards for West Brom

Darren Bent was delighted to hear that West Brom are reportedly considering signing defender Martin Olsson.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-striker admitted the Baggies need players like Olsson as he is an experienced player.

It was recently reported that the 31-year-old free agent is training with the Baggies and if he proves his fitness then a short-term deal is on the cards for him.

Bent revealed he thought Olsson has done well whatever he has been and added that it will be good for Slaven Bilic to have him in the dressing room.

When asked if signing Olsson would be a fantastic move for the Baggies due to his experience, Bent told Football Insider: “Yeah, that would be a great signing.

“Really good signing knows what it takes, you need players like that, it’s great having all these young players with all the energy in the world who work hard, but at the same time, you need experience.

“Olsson has always done well, wherever he has been, solid character and he’s good to have in the dressing room, so I think that will be a really good signing.”

The experienced left-back has been without a club since leaving Swansea City last summer.

Olsson has played a total of 107 times in the Championship and also has plenty of Premier League experience having played in England’s top-flight 197 times.
