Exclusive: Hutton tips senior West Brom player exit amid reported bid to sign ace proven in PL

Alan Hutton has suggested that West Brom are looking at free agent Martin Olsson as a replacement for one of their first-team stars.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Aston Villa and Scotland defender says that a move for the Swedish international could help the Baggies cover the loss of a current Hawthorns ace.

It has been reported that Slaven Bilic’s men have given Olsson the chance to train with the first team ahead of a prospective short-term deal, Kieran Gibbs out injured and Nathan Ferguson’s contract status up in the air.

Hutton says that the former Norwich and Blackburn Rovers star’s arrival at the Hawthorns could be to help cover the potential loss of a current first-team player this month.

Hutton told Football Insider: “I think he could do well there, they’re obviously flying high. They probably need a few reinforcements.

“It is possible a few teams have been in for a couple of the West Brom players and maybe they’re looking to bolster the squad just in case.”

Olsson has nearly 200 games of Premier League experience under his belt but has been without a club since leaving West Brom’s Championship rivals Swansea City in the summer.

He featured just 17 times for the Swans last season, falling almost completely out of the first-team reckoning in the second half of the season.

In other West Brom news, it can be revealed the club are looking to blow Leeds United out of the water for a Premier League attacker.
