Darren Bent has insisted that Tottenham will be signing an “unbelievable” player if they seal the capture of Ryan Sessegnon from Fulham by next Thursday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs striker explained how he is a big admirer of the 19-year-old sensation.
As revealed by Football Insider, Tottenham pencilled in a medical for Sessegnon after a breakthrough in negotiations last month.
Spurs source have told us the Londoners are confident of signing the teenager before the transfer cut-off next Thursday.
“It’s a very good deal for Tottenham if they can do it, especially with the Danny Rose situation,” Bent told Football Insider. “Getting him in might just soften the blow if they lose Rose.
“It would be brilliant for Sessegnon if he can get that move and great for Tottenham as well, as he’s an unbelievable talent.
“I thought he did reasonably well for Fulham last season considering they got relegated. I don’t think he’s an out-and-out defender. I know he can play left wing, but I’d like to see him at wing-back, that’s where I think his best position is.”
Sessegnon broke into the Fulham team aged 16 and was named the Championship player of the year when still only 18 as his club got promoted two seasons ago.
He has already accumulated 120 first-team appearances for the Cottagers, scoring 25 goals and supplying 18 assists.
In other Spurs news, it can be REVEALED that the club are close to signing a record-breaking attacker.
