'That is brilliant' - Exclusive: Darren Bent raves over 'Great' Leeds development

Darren Bent says that Jean-Kevin Augustin is a “brilliant” signing for Leeds United after his arrival on loan from RB Leipzig.

The former Aston Villa and England striker, speaking exclusively to Footabll Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that the Whites have gone off the boil in their hunt for promotion but that their new arrival could help them get back on track.

Leeds confirmed on Monday that they had secured the capture of the 22-year-old centre-forward on a season-long loan with the option to turn his move permanent when his temporary stay comes to an end.

Bent admits he thinks the Whites have pulled off a great deal for the young Frenchman but admits there need to be improvements all over the pitch after a recent spell of shaky form.

Bent told Football Insider: “That is brilliant, I think, a really good bit of business for them.

“Leeds are still in the hunt, I don’t know what is going on with West Brom and Leeds at the moment because it’s like neither of them want to go and get promoted but Leeds are in with a shout.

“It’s an interesting time for Leeds but getting this player over the line is a great signing. They need to get back to winning ways though.”

Augustin has netted just one goal in 13 appearances this season, having spent the first half of the season on loan at Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.

He becomes the second senior striker at Elland Road alongside Patrick Bamford, the Whites losing Eddie Nketiah back to Arsenal after his indifferent spell at the club.

In other Leeds United news, Noel Whelan says it is definitely time for an in-demand midfielder to leave Elland Road.
