Derby County have submitted a £730,000 bid for SV Darmstadt striker Serdar Dursun, Football Insider understands.
The 28-year-old forward is in demand after scoring 30 goals and chipping in with a further 14 assists in 74 games for the German second-tier side.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Derby have now tabled a firm six-figure offer for the hitman as Phillip Cocu looks to bolster his attacking line before October’s transfer deadline.
The Dutch manager confirmed after his side’s 4-0 loss to Blackburn Rovers that he was keen to sign a striker before their game against Norwich City next week.
The Rams are yet to pick up a point this season and have managed just one goal, scored by Jack Marriott, in their three league games.
Last season’s top goalscorer Martyn Waghorn, who netted 12 times in 43 Championship appearances, has not featured at all yet after he suffered a calf injury in pre-season.
It is understood that Derby have identified Dursun, who scored 19 goals in 36 games last term, as an ideal solution to their struggles up front and have tabled an official offer to Darmstadt.
The German-born Turkish forward has spent most of his professional career in Germany’s second-tier and has scored 40 times in 128 games in the league.
Dursun has started both of Darmstadt’s Bundesliga 2 games this season but is yet to find the back of the net.
In other Derby County news, Kevin Phillips has told Football Insider that a ‘Fantastic’ Rangers target has been on the radar of Derby and Stoke.
