Exclusive: Everton make approach to sign rare PL talent, top pundit Wowed

Everton would be signing a rare talent if they can prise Tyrone Mings away from Aston Villa this summer, according to Michael Brown.

The former Premier League midfielder, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor, has lauded the defender for the balance he brings to the side as a left-footed centre back who is comfortable on the ball.

As revealed by Football Insider last week, Everton have made an approach to sign the 27-year-old this summer as Carlo Ancelotti looks for a left-sided centre-back.

This site have since revealed that the Villans may be forced to sell their defensive star for £30million if they are relegated.

Dean Smith’s side currently sit 17th and know their survival hopes are in their own hands heading into the final day of the season.

Brown believes £30million is the minimum Everton can expect to pay for the centre-back and believes he will be in high demand this summer.

Brown told Football Insider: “He’s a good player but you’ve got to be honest with Aston Villa – where are they going to be, can they hold onto players and all this?

“If Aston Villa are not in the Premier League you would expect there to be some pressure on players and left-sided central defenders, there’s not that many of them, are there?

“He’s got that nice cross-field range of passing that he likes to clip forward, he’s got balance and agility and he’s certainly going to be one with attention. I wouldn’t expect it to be less (than £30million), would you?

“With the left-footed balance, it makes him so much more attractive, doesn’t it?”

Mings has played a total of 35 times for Villa this season after he turned his initial loan move from Bournemouth into a permanent one last summer.

Everton currently have the likes of Mason Holgate, Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and rising star Jarrad Branthwaite to call upon at centre-back.

In other Everton news, it can be revealed a big-money Toffees deal is set to collapse.
