Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard would be a great signing by Everton and a far more logical buy than Rangers spearhead Alfredo Morelos.

That is according to ex-Leeds and Aberdeen hitman Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge about the 22-year-old Bhoy he’s convinced has what it takes to be a success in the Premier League.

The Daily Mail report that Carlo Ancelotti’s men have regularly scouted Edouard this season and will continue to do so as they plot a prospective transfer raid this summer.

Comparing the Parkhead and Ibrox stars against each other, Whelan believes clubs would rather spend more on signing Edouard than pay less and take a gamble on Morelos.

Asked if Edouard would be a good fit at Goodison Park, Whelan told Football Insider: “Yeah, absolutely, I think he’d be a good fit for a lot of clubs in the Premier League.

“He’s one player who probably can do that hard work and be successful. He’s got all the attributes, his attitude’s good, he’s big, he can hold the ball up, he can score goals, he’s good with his head.

“I’m sure most people would love to spend more money on him than they would on Morelos! No manager in England or Scotland wants a player with that sort of attitude, but he’s got a talent. Whether he can do it in the Premier League, I’m very unsure about that.”

Edouard leads the top scorers’ table in the Scottish top flight this season with 20 goals, while he has a further six in other competitions.

Morelos meanwhile has 12 Premiership goals under his belt but a total of 29 across all tournaments.
