Perfect - Hutton Exclusive: Leeds can pull off big coup by finalising PL giants defender deal

A summer move to Leeds United could be “absolutely ideal” for Tottenham defender Juan Foyth, according to Alan Hutton.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Spurs and Aston Villa defender believes having fellow Argentine Marcelo Bielsa in the dugout could be a big boost for the 22-year-old.

As revealed by Football Insider, Leeds are working on a potential deal for Foyth this summer, while they are also keen on Middlesbrough’s Daniel Ayala.

It is understood that neither player is close to signing at Elland Road but that their pursuit for the Boro man is currently more advanced.

Having seen Foyth struggle for game time under Jose Mourinho, Hutton believes Elland Road could be the perfect destination for Foyth.

Hutton told Football Insider: “It’s a massive club who are looking like they’re going to be a Premier League team.

“It’s always nice – I’ve had it myself – when you go to a team where the manager knows you or you’re from the same country or whatever, you just feel that little bit safer.

“I think it’s something he needs to go and do, he needs to go and play football. Coming in and out of the Tottenham team is not ideal, he’s looked a bit rash at times and whether that’s just him trying too hard, trying to impress.

“To go somewhere where you’re going to play week in, week out, build your confidence and grow as a player I think is absolutely ideal.”

Foyth has played just seven times across all competitions for Tottenham this season, with just three of those appearances coming under Mourinho.

Having been bought by ex-Spurs boss and fellow countryman Mauricio Pochettino, the centre-back has a total of 32 games under his belt for the Lilywhites.
