'Huge blow' - Exclusive: Kevin Phillips shares Harry Kane reveal from his Spurs sources

Kevin Phillips has claimed Harry Kane will still be an influential figure in the Tottenham dressing room during his injury absence after suffering a “huge blow”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-England striker revealed his Spurs sources are close to the talisman and they’re in doubt he will still be heavily involved while on the sidelines.

Kane is recovering after undergoing hamstring surgery on 11 January and is in a race against time to be fit for the end of the domestic season as well as this summer’s European Championships.

Phillips explained how the 26-year-old will still be a key man at Tottenham but warned his recovery from such a serious injury will not be simple.

“Knowing people that know him, he’ll still be in and around that dressing room, he’ll still be in the dressing room day to day with the players so he’ll still be a leader off the pitch, I’m sure of that,” Phillips told Football Insider.

“Huge blow, not just for Tottenham but possibly the Euros in the summer. Harry unfortunately has picked up a few injuries the last year two years but this one is by far
the worst.

“A hamstring, if you don’t get it right and then rush him back it not only affects Tottenham
and England but it will affect his future and that can’t happen.

“Whether that means he misses the Euros then so be it but as an England fan I hope he comes back with 4, 5 games of the Premier League season left works on his fitness and he’s fine for the Euros.

“From Tottenham’s point of view – watching the game on Sunday, Spurs have that false nine, Moura played up top – it’s tough.”

In other Tottenham news, it can be REVEALED that the club have set their sights on signing defender available for £4m in the summer.
