Leeds have completed the signing of Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford in a £6.5million deal rising to £10m, Football Insider sources at the club have revealed.
As revealed exclusivley by Football Insider over the weekend, Leeds had agreed a fee with Championship rivals Middlesbrough for former Chelsea forward Bamford as they look to bolster their attacking options.
Bamford has now passed his medical at Elland Road and has signed a four-year deal to become Marcelo Bielsa’s fourth signing of the summer.
Leeds switched their attentions to Bamford after ending their pursuit of Derby County forward Matej Vydra.
Bamford won the Championship Player of the Year award during his first spell at Middlesbrough in the 2014/15 season when he scored 17 goals for the club
Bamford, who joined Middlesbrough on a permanent basis from Chelsea 18 months ago, scored 11 goals last season despite being in and out of the team.
Leeds’ current director of football Victor Orta signed Bamford when he was in a similar role at Middlesbrough and he is a big fan of the former England Under-21 international.
