Exclusive: Leeds work on ‘last-gasp’ Ilias Chair signing

Leeds are plotting a last-gasp move for Queens Park Rangers playmaker Ilias Chair, sources have told Football Insider.

The 26-year-old Morocco international has emerged on Leeds’ radar as the club looks to bring in a replacement for Georgino Rutter in the number 10 role.

Chair is in the final year of his contract at QPR and Leeds are ready to test QPR’s resolve to keep hold of him.

If he does not sign a new contract throughout the year, then this window will be QPR’s final opportunity to cash in on him.

Leeds also lost Crysencio Summerville in this transfer window, further weakening the attacking options available to Daniel Farke.

The Whites have been in the market for various players to solve this issue in recent weeks but are yet to strike a deal.

Leeds want to enhance their attacking qualities with Ilias Chair

The Championship outfit wants an attacking midfielder with experience who is ready to be placed directly into the starting lineup.

Chair has made 217 appearances in the Championship throughout his career and is a proven commodity in the second tier.

He has scored 34 goals and created as many assists throughout those games, showcasing his attacking qualities.
