Exclusive: Leyton Orient agree deal to sign Bolton star Randell Williams
Leyton Orient have agreed to sign Bolton winger Randell Williams on a deal until the end of the season, sources have told Football Insider.
Williams’ contract at Bolton was due to expire at the end of the season, but Orient have moved quickly to secure his signature.
The move is a permanent one, with the 28-year-old to undergo a medical before putting the finishing touches on a six-month deal at Orient’s training ground.
Richie Wellens was keen to strengthen his squad in the closing stages of the window to give his side the best chance of a strong second half of the season.
As things stand, The O’s sit two places above Bolton in the table and are level on points having played one fewer game, and harbour outside hopes of a playoff place.
Williams has featured 16 times in League One this season, but has started just seven games and was keen to move on in search of more regular playing time.
Leyton Orient to sign Bolton winger Randell Williams on short-term deal
Bolton have completed loan deals for Cardiff striker Kion Etete and Newcastle left-back Alex Murphy this month, and are confident their squad has been adequately strengthened.
Williams was no longer seen as a valuable part of their plans under new manager Steven Schumacher, who was dismissed by Stoke City earlier this season.
The winger looked set to leave the club for free in July, but has instead opted to make the move ahead of time in a bid to continue playing regular first-team football.
A decision will then be made by Orient come the summer about his long-term future at the club as they are keeping their options open.

However, the signing is seen as a coup for the East London club after poaching the player from one of their direct rivals for league places.
