Exclusive: Liverpool have ‘concrete’ interest in Gibbs-White, Forest’s response

Liverpool have a “concrete” interest in signing Nottingham Forest star man Morgan Gibbs-White, sources have told Football Insider.

The recruitment team at Anfield have made the attacking midfielder, 24, a top target ahead of the January and summer transfer windows.

Liverpool are keen to sign a playmaker who can link the play and provide a goals impetus from an advanced midfield position.

Gibbs-White, who has been with Forest since 2022, has been identified as a top option for the Reds.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, who sit second in the Premier League behind Arne Slot’s Liverpool, are expected to knock back any January move for the England international.

However, it is believed a summer deal for the right price would be harder to reject for Forest.

Gibbs-White has played 15 times in the Premier League this term, notching three goals and three assists.

He has worn the armband for Forest on several occasions as they challenge for a European spot in the 2024-25 campaign.

The 24-year-old made his debut for England in September 2024 under Lee Carsley, who also gave him a second appearance in November against Greece.

Forest paid a reported initial fee of £25million for the midfielder in 2022, with a further £17.5million payable in add-ons.

His contract at the City Ground is set to run until June 2027 with the star man yet to sign an extension since arriving at the club.

Gibbs-White would be competing with the likes of Dominic Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones for game time if he arrived at Anfield to bolster the squad.
