Exclusive: Liverpool star could replace Gibbs-White at Nottingham Forest

Harvey Elliott has emerges as a target for Nottingham Forest if they lose Morgan Gibbs-White, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Arne Slot will make a decision about the 22-year-old’s future at Anfield ahead of the summer transfer window.

A number of Premier League clubs including Wolves, Bournemouth and Newcastle are also believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation.

However, Forest are the latest team to show an interest in the England Under-21 international amid growing speculation linking Gibbs-White with a move to Man City.

Football Insider revealed on 11 April that Man City want to sign Gibbs-White as one of four players identified as a potential replacement for Kevin de Bruyne.

Meanwhile, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that City are planning to hold talks with Forest to assess the possibility of a deal.

Nottingham Forest eye Elliott swoop as Liverpool stance revealed

Football Insider revealed on 21 March that Elliott has been disappointed with his playing time since Slot arrived and would be open to a move away.

While the midfielder is keen to remain at Anfield given his affinity for the club, but wants to play regular football in the Premier League at this stage of his career.

However, Football Insider revealed on 4 April that Liverpool will demand £40-50million for Elliott, which has put a number of clubs off of a move for him as things stand.

The Reds see the midfielder’s long-term future in Slot’s midfield and have high hopes for his continued development despite his lack of playing time.

There is a growing belief, though, that Forest could match that asking price if they make big-money from Gibbs-White’s sale which could be worth around £100million.

Liam Delap update emerges at the City Ground

Alongside potential replacements for Gibbs-White, Forest have also set their sights on luring a new striker to the City Ground to compete with Chris Wood.

Football Insider revealed on 8 May that Forest want to sign Ipswich star Liam Delap and have registered their interest in a move this summer.

The 22-year-old has a relegation clause in his Ipswich contract believed to be worth £30million, and is expected to make an instant return to the Premier League.

This comes after Football Insider first revealed in February that Man United and Chelsea want to sign Delap as a number of elite sides have been tracking his progress.
