Exclusive: Man City make Bernardo Silva transfer decision
Manchester City want to keep captain Bernardo Silva beyond the end of the season, sources have told Football Insider.
Silva has been linked with a move back to his former club Benfica next summer, when he could be available on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old’s current contract at the Etihad expires in June 2026, which means he is able to agree a pre-contract deal with foreign clubs from January.
However, sources say that Pep Guardiola would like Silva to stay, as he still sees the Portuguese midfielder as part of his plans.

Silva has all the power over Man City
With his current deal expiring next summer, Silva holds all the cards regarding his future at Man City and is well within his rights to run down his contract.
Sources say that the Portugal international would have a host of clubs battling for his signature, should he decide to end his time with the Citizens.
Silva has been linked with a Man City exit regularly throughout the last few years, and the likes of Real Madrid have shown an interest in the creative midfielder.
He has remained a regular in Guardiola’s side though, and so far this season has started three out of four Premier League games for City.
Man City race Man United for highly rated defender
Meanwhile, Man City could be set to race Man United for Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries, sources have told Football Insider.

Both clubs were busy during the summer and have addressed key areas of their squad, but are also aware of areas of weakness that they failed to address.
Dumfries has emerged as a target for the two Manchester sides, who remain keen to strengthen at right-back.
However, City could walk away from the deal due to concerns over age, which would leave the door open for Amorim’s side to swoop in.
