Exclusive: McNamara suggests Celtic player may have been wound up after official announcement
Jackie McNamara suggested that people may have successfully wound Celtic attacker Leigh Griffiths up following the signing of Patryk Klimala.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the Hoops legend admitted that people likely used Klimala signing to annoy Griffiths by saying it could have a knock-on effect on his future.
The Hoops officially announced that they had signed the Polish striker on Monday with the forward signing a four-and-a-half-year deal with the club.

Griffiths uploaded a gif of himself putting his fingers in his ears later that day, before deciding to shut down his Twitter page.
McNamara explained that people are always looking for a reaction and suggested the experienced forward gave them one.
When asked about Griffiths’ social media activity, McNamara told Football Insider: “People are looking for a reaction, that’s part and parcel of the game.

“I’m sure people try to get to him and wind him up with another striker coming in, and oh there are rumours you’re going away and stuff.
“It’s just noise, and he’s showing that by putting his fingers in his ears and taking his account down.”
The 29-year-old has played 18 times for Neil Lennon’s side this season, scoring three goals and registering one assist in the process.
Griffiths has been with the Hoops since joining them from Wolves in 2014 and is contracted to stay with the club until 2022.
