Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny is poised to undergo a Besiktas medical as he prepares to jet to Turkey tonight to finalise the transfer, Football Insider can reveal.
The Egypt international, 27, has been given the green light by the Premier League giants to join the Super Lig club on a season-long loan.
An Arsenal source has told Football Insider that Elneny is scheduled to arrive in Turkey at 10pm tonight local time to put the finishing touches to his move.
He will then sign the paperwork on the deal after reaching an agreement with Besiktas.
The Turkish club have beaten off competition from Bordeaux to sign Elneny, who is surplus to requirements at London Stadium.
Emery revealed last week he has made it clear to Elneny and his senior teammate Shkodran Mustafi they are set for only bit-part roles with the Londoners this season and free to join a club where they can be expected to play regularly.
The 75-times Egypt international signed a new contract last year that has three more years to run but he made just five league starts among 17 appearances in all competitions last season.
Since joining from Swiss club Basel in January 2016, Elneny has played in 89 matches for Arsenal, predominantly in central midfield.
In other Arsenal news, Darren Bent claims the Gunners have “stumbled upon a gem” who will be in high demand.
