Exclusive: Medical today as Nottingham Forest finalise £6m player exit
EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke
Nottingham Forest striker Ben Brereton is undergoing a medical at Blackburn Rovers today (Monday) ahead of his proposed £6million move, Football Insider sources understands.
Blackburn have agreed a deal to sign Brereton initially on loan until January which will then become permanent for a £6million fee when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
A well placed source has told Football Insider that Brereton has agreed personal terms with Blackburn and is set to make the move to Ewood Park once he comes through his medical.
His signing is something of a major coup for Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray as Brereton is regarded as one of the best young forwards in the country and is an England Under-19 international.
Forest are willing to let the homegrown talent move on as he is does not figure in Aitor Karanka’s plans going forward and he has not featured for Forest so far this season.
Brereton scored six goals in 39 appearances for Forest last season, including one goal in the 4-2 win over Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup.
In other news, the club WILL now sign a Premier League big name after he snubbed offers from two of their rivals.
