Exclusive: Motherwell plan to accept Tawanda Maswanhise offer amid Celtic and Rangers latest

Motherwell will “listen to offers” for striker Tawanda Maswanhise this summer amid interest from both Celtic and Rangers, sources have told Football Insider.

The pair of Old Firm rivals were both heavily linked with the 23-year-old in the January transfer window, and he is expected to remain on their respective radars in the coming months.

Football Insider revealed in January that Motherwell were holding out for over £4million for Maswanhise, and sources now say that there is an acceptance at Dens Park that they will not be able to keep hold of Maswanhise for much longer, as he enters the final year of his contract in the summer.

The Zimbabwe international is the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership with 13 league goals in 21 games so far this term, and that has caught the attention of the country’s biggest clubs.

Tawanda Maswanhise to be chased by several clubs

Anderlecht failed with a late approach for Maswanhise in the final stages of the winter transfer window, as they were knocked back after making last-minute contact over a deal.

The young frontman has been a crucial component behind the unexpected success of Jens Berthel Askou’s side this season, and that has naturally prompted prying glances from elsewhere.

The former Leicester City academy graduate has rapidly become one of the hottest properties in Scottish football, and links with Celtic and Rangers are expected to persist in the coming windows.

Motherwell run the risk of potentially losing Maswanhise on a free transfer if they do not sell him next time around, and that has proven to be a major factor in their decision to consider any potential offers.

The form that he has showcased so far in 2025-26 has seen him gain admirers across Europe, and there could be potential for a battle to form for his signature in a few months.

Celtic to cash in on Arne Engels this summer

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday that Celtic would “definitely” accept a lower bid for Arne Engels than the most lucrative one that they received from Nottingham Forest on deadline day.

The Premier League side saw three separate offers turned away by the Bhoys, with their final attempt to land the Belgian worth an eye-watering £25million.

Celtic are understood to have turned down the money on that occasion due to the limited time available to secure a replacement, but it is expected to be a different story for them in the summer.

Engels is likely to attract interest once again, but sources have indicated that the value behind the offers is unlikely to reach that £25m mark that Forest previously put on the table.
