Exclusive: Newcastle hatch new Anthony Elanga plan after ‘£50m’ bid
Newcastle United will come back in for Nottingham Forest star Anthony Elanga after seeing a deadline-day bid rejected, sources have told Football Insider.
Reports have suggested Newcastle submitted a £50million bid for the Forest winger on Friday (30 August).
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side rejected that last-gasp offer and Elanga will remain at the City Ground until at least January.
Sources say the Sweden international remains a “top target” for Newcastle, who have tracked him for a long time.
Football Insider first revealed the Magpies’ interest in Elanga back in June.
It is believed Eddie Howe’s side will come back into the frame in another attempt to land the forward in the coming transfer windows.

Elanga is yet to score or assist in four appearances in league and cup in the new campaign.
He notched five goals and nine assists in 39 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign as Nottingham Forest avoided relegation.
The winger left Man United for Forest in 2023 and is under contract at the City Ground until June 2028.

Newcastle have started the new season with Anthony Gordon on the right wing after failing to land their top targets in the summer window.
Harvey Barnes has slotted in on the left wing, while Jacob Murphy and Miguel Almiron are also options for Howe on the right.
