EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke
Doncaster Rovers are close to signing Wolves duo Niall Ennis and Cameron John, Football Insider understands.
The northern club’s manager Darren Moore is keen to bolster his squad and has identified forward Ennis and centre-back John as two top targets.
A number of Football League clubs have made enquiries about taking Ennis and John on loan, but a Doncaster source has told Football Insider the club are set to win the race for their signatures.
Wolves are prepared to loan out Ennis and John this summer so that they can continue their development with regular first-team football as they are well down the pecking order in Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans.
Ennis made his debut for Wolves in an FA Cup replay against Shrewsbury last season, while John is yet to make his senior bow.
Doncaster are in the market for a new striker after selling John Marquis to Portsmouth and Ennis will help fill the void at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Ennis, who has come through the ranks at Wolves to be capped by England at Under-19, Under-18s and Under-17s levels, had a spell out on loan at Shrewsbury in 2017 but his stint was cut short by serious injury.
He has battled back from two serious injuries in his career and he has been a regular scorer for Wolves’ Under-23s side.
In other Wolves news, it can be REVEALED that the club are plotting to sign another Portuguese sensation likened to Paul Pogba.
