Exclusive: Nottingham Forest and Wolves set sights on signing Youte Kinkoue

Nottingham Forest and Wolves are plotting moves for Le Havre defender Etienne Youte Kinkoue, sources have told Football Insider.

The central defender is entering the final year of his contract at the Ligue 1 club, and he could be signed for as little as £7million, according to sources.

Kinkoue is highly rated in France after his performances last season for Le Havre, which have drawn attention toward him.

Both the Premier League clubs are in the market for defensive reinforcements this summer, and the 22-year-old features highly on their wanted lists.

The two clubs will both have to push to secure his signature in this window as they attempt to lure the defender to the Premier League.

Nottingham Forest and Wolves could benefit from his defensive qualities

Last season, Nottingham and Wolves were two of the weakest teams in the Premier League from a defensive perspective.

Only the three relegated clubs boasted worse goal differences than them, which is why it’s an area of high importance for each club.

Nottingham conceded 67 goals last season while Wolves let in 65, and both managers are attempting to improve that for the upcoming campaign.

Kinkoue thrived in Ligue 1 last season, playing 22 times for Le Havre and eventually becoming a regular in the starting lineup.

The young defender also boasts plenty of experience in Primavera 1, where he’s played 44 times throughout his career.

In other news, Nottingham made last ditch sale to avoid points deduction.
