Exclusive: Nottingham Forest beat rivals to Aberdeen deal for Lewis Carrol
Nottingham Forest have agreed a fee with Aberdeen for Scotland youth international defender Lewis Carrol, sources have told Football Insider.
A number of Premier League clubs were chasing Carrol, but Forest have moved to steal a match on their rivals for his signature
The 16-year-old is highly rated, and despite his age had been a part of Aberdeen’s under-18 side that won the league.
Carrol signed a professional contract with the Dons in June 2024, the youngster has also been capped at the U17 level for Scotland.
Nottingham Forest look to add to Nuno Espirito Santo squad
Forest currently sit third in the Premier League table and look set to qualify for the Champions League, having avoided relegation in the 2023/24 season.
A flurry of transfers following their promotion from the Championship in 2022, saw them handed a points deduction in the 23/24 season, and the club are trying to take a more long-term approach with their transfers this year.
Another youngster potentially joining Carrol in Forest’s youth ranks, is Tegan Finn, as the club look to make a late move for Plymouth Argyle’s teen sensation.
It has been a quiet transfer window for Forest, as manager Nuno Espirito Santo seems content with a squad that has become a surprise title-challenger.

The only major deal the Tricky Trees have done in January, has been terminating James Ward-Prowse’s loan from West Ham.
Lewis O’Brien looks set to leave the club and join Swansea on deadline day as he heads to Wales for a medical.
In other news, Morgan Gibbs-White has sent a message to Forest fans after a surprise demolition.
