Exclusive: Nottingham Forest make contact over Jorgen Strand Larsen deal

Nottingham Forest have sounded out Jorgen Strand Larsen over a potential move this month, sources have told Football Insider.

Forest officials have made contact with Strand Larsen’s representatives to gauge his interest in a move to the City Ground.

The 25-year-old’s future at Wolves has been up in the air due to the side’s struggles at the wrong end of the table, with a number of clubs keeping tabs on his situation.

Forest are stepping up their interest in the Norwegian after losing Chris Wood to injury for a lengthy period.

Wolves are reluctant to sell Strand-Larsen to a potential relegation rival in Forest, but the Reds are ready to tempt their resolve with a big-money offer.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday that West Ham have pulled out of the race for Strand Larsen, and that has coincided with Sean Dyche’s side making their move.

Nottingham Forest will have to pay £40m for Jorgen Strand Larsen

Wolves are demanding a fee of £40million for Strand Larsen, despite the fact that their relegation from the Premier League appears to be an inevitability.

Rob Edwards’ side are marooned at the foot of the table, and they already find themselves 15 points adrift of safety just beyond the halfway mark of the campaign.

Nevertheless, they are still keen to ensure that they don’t lose their star striker on the cheap in the mid-season window.

Strand Larsen signed a new five-year contract at Molineux back in September, after Wolves had knocked back a pair of bids from Newcastle during the summer window.

The Norwegian is now under contract with the Black Country outfit until the summer of 2030, and as a result, Forest will have to part with a significant fee if they want to secure his signature.

Sean Dyche and Co. have now made their first move towards signing the frontman, but they will need to show determination to meet the asking price if a deal is to take place.

Everton face major barrier to Strand Larsen deal

Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson told Football Insider on Tuesday that Everton won’t be able to spend £40m upfront on Strand Larsen this winter.

The Toffees are another club that have been strongly linked with a move for the 25-year-old of late, but they appear incapable of meeting the asking price in full this winter, after a significant spend last summer.

Borson suggested that Everton may instead try to progress their interest and work towards an initial loan deal with the obligation to buy.

That would potentially leave the door open for Forest to strike an immediate deal in January, if Wolves are keen to ensure that they receive their asking price in full and with immediate effect.
