Exclusive: Nottingham Forest will agree Chris Wood deal soon

Nottingham Forest are expected to agree a new deal with Chris Wood in the near future, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke admitted the club would “Be mad to let Chris Wood leave” after the impressive season he’s having.

The 33-year-old has scored 10 goals in 18 Premier League appearances and is currently the joint fifth-highest scorer in the entire division.

It is expected that Forest will offer the striker a brand new contract, giving supporters the perfect Christmas gift to wrap up what has been an unbelievable first half of the season.

Wood’s current deal expires at the end of the season, which could lead to him becoming a free agent next summer.

However, well-placed sources have told Football Insider that there’s a willingness from Wood to stay and commit his future to the City Ground.

Wood has been a key part of Forest’s success this season, with the club currently sat in third place after the opening 18 matches.

Nottingham Forest could face competition to retain Chris Wood

Wood might be under contract at Forest currently, but the Premier League side are set to face competition to retain him.

Several other clubs are monitoring his situation and keeping tabs on whether or not he signs a new deal.

Wood’s experience and current form would make him an interesting prospect for any Premier League side in the summer due to the fact he’d be available for free.
