Exclusive: Nottingham Forest’s Ross Wilson responds to Huddersfield Town offer
Nottingham Forest recruitment chief Ross Wilson has rejected an approach from his former club Huddersfield Town, sources have told Football Insider.
Huddersfield targeted Wilson for a senior role at the club, overseeing their recruitment strategy as they look to secure promotion back to the Championship.
However, the Forest chief football officer has turned down the interest from the Terriers.
Wilson is highly regarded at Huddersfield having worked at the club between 2012 and 2015, before moving on to senior recruitment positions at Southampton and Rangers.
Ross Wilson has enjoyed ‘key role’ at Nottingham Forest
The 41-year-old has been at Forest since 2023, playing an important role in the club’s dramatic rise under Evangelos Marinakis’ ownership.
The Scot replaced Filippo Giraldi, who was let go by Forest after only six months in the post.
Team | Played | Won | Drawn | Lost | Points |

5. Newcastle (CL) | 38 | 20 | 6 | 12 | 66 |
6. Aston Villa (EL) | 38 | 19 | 9 | 10 | 66 |

Since battling relegation at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, Forest secured a seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season, qualifying for UEFA Conference League football in the process.
A 20-goal return from striker Chris Wood and 13 clean sheets for goalkeeper Matz Sels – a total only matched by Arsenal – saw the East Midlanders miss out on a Champions League spot by a single point.

‘Nottingham Forest to sell to avoid breaching PSR rules’
Meanwhile, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has claimed Marinakis may have to make do with a season of consolidation in 2025-26.
Wyness told Football Insider: “I think (we’ll see) maybe two or three maximum in terms of incomers, but there may be one or two that have to go to make that Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) requirement.”
With the future of Forest and England star Morgan Gibbs-White unclear, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Man City midfielder James McAtee can be an ideal replacement for the 25-year-old, who has emerged as a target for Pep Guardiola.
