Noel Whelan fears for Leeds United against a “rejuvenated” West Brom side tonight.
The former Whites striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted that he would “take a draw” from The Hawthorns tonight after the bottom-three scrappers Baggies grabbed a “massive point” at Anfield on Sunday.
The claim comes as a shock with Marcelo Bielsa’s side 12 points ahead of their opponents in the Premier League going into tonight’s game.
The spoils were shared when the two sides met in the West Midlands last season, Baggies defender Semi Ajayi scoring at both ends in a 1-1 draw.
Whelan expects the outcome to be the same on Tuesday with Sam Allardyce’s side “very dangerous” from set-pieces and counter-attacks.
“I think it might be a draw,” he told Football Insider.
“It was a massive point for West Brom against Liverpool on Sunday. A resolute defensive performance against one of the best attacking sides in Europe.
“It is going to be a game of patience for Leeds and we will have to be careful because Diangana and Karlan Grant have great pace.
“You can see their game plan. It was all about the counter attack. I am expecting to see a lot of that from West Brom tonight.
“They will also be very dangerous from set pieces. They are a constant threat in that way because they are a bigger side than us. We need to raise our bar and stand up to the challenge.
“I would take a draw right now. This is a rejuvenated West Brom so if we took a point away I would not be unhappy.”
