Paul Robinson claimed Aston Villa have been dealt a massive blow with attacker Anwar El Ghazi picking up an injury.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England No.1 worried about how long El Ghazi could be stuck on the sidelines for after going down injured against Manchester United.
Villans manager Dean Smith explained after the 2-2 draw to Manchester United that El Ghazi had suffered a knee injury and that he would need to be assessed at Bodymoor Heath.
Robinson suggested that El Ghazi had recently started playing well and implied that his injury had come at the worst time as he may not find it easy to get back in the side when fit.
When asked about El Ghazi’s injury, Robinson told Football Insider: “Yeah, it’s a massive blow, for him personally too.
“You get an opportunity to come into the team and you start playing well, and you pick up an injury.
“It’s an injury that may keep him out for a while, so he’s got to rehab it all, work hard to get back in that team.
“And if you look at that Villa team, it’s a team that is playing well as they more than held their own against Manchester United.”
The 24-year-old winger has racked up four goals and registered five assists in the 15 appearances he has made this season.
El Ghazi joined Dean Smith’s side on a permanent basis from Lille in the summer after spending his 2018/19 campaign on loan at Villa Park.
In other Aston Villa news, it can be REVEALED that the club have set their sights on winger at north-west club ahead of January.
