Exclusive: Robinson claims Everton may have ‘Huge advantage’ over rivals in transfer hunt
Paul Robinson claims that the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti has given Everton a “huge advantage” in the transfer market.
The former Tottenham and England goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that the Italian boss will be able to convince players to sign at Goodison Park over their rivals.
Football Insider revealed that the club were unsuccessful in their attempts to prise Chelsea’s Reece James from Stamford Bridge, while The Athletic report that they lead their Premier League counterparts in the hunt for Benfica star Gedson Fernandes.
Robinson says that the man in the dugout is a gamechanger for Everton when it comes to transfers and that his appointment has been a real coup for the Toffees.
Robinson told Football Insider: “They’ve got a huge advantage now in the transfer market at Everton – they’ve got Carlo Ancelotti.
“You look at the clubs that he’s managed, you go through his CV and the players that he’s managed in the past as well. He’ll have a great relationship with players that he’s already managed.
“He’ll also have great respect from other players looking at his CV, look at the type of manager he is and it’s a great coup for Everton to have a manager of Ancelotti’s calibre because he does that for you in the transfer market.
“If a player is in doubt over where he wants to go, where his future goes, someone like Ancelotti is key for making that decision as a player.”
