Paul Robinson gushed about Everton defender Djibril Sidibe for being a shining light for the Toffees against Leicester City.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England No.1 admitted the right-back had struggled for the Toffees in 2019 but did impress in the 2-1 loss to the Foxes on Sunday.
Sidibe racked up his third assist of the season against the Foxes as it was his cross that Richarlison headed home to put Marco Silva’s side ahead.
Robinson stated that he thought the Toffees boss managed to get a tune and a performance from his side in the first 45 minutes against Leicester and credited Sidibe with being a part of that.
When asked about Sidibe impressing against Leicester City, Robinson told Football Insider: “I think he has struggled this year because Everton have struggled.
“I thought his first-half performance was very very good, I thought Marco Silva got a tune out of his team and performance from his team, and I think Sidibé was a shining light in that.
“And I think with Richarlison’s goal, they deserved to go in 1-0 up against Leicester City.”
The 27-year-old arrived at Goodison Park in the summer after joining the Toffees on loan for the season from French giants AS Monaco.
Sidibe didn’t feature for the Toffees in their first seven league games of the season but has featured in their last eight league matches.
In his 2018/19 campaign, the right-back regularly featured 32 times for AS Monaco across all competitions and registered four assists in the process.
