Exclusive: Ruben Amorim makes up his mind on Man United backroom staff

Ruben Amorim has made a decision about who he wants as his backroom staff ahead of his expected arrival at Man United, sources have told Football Insider.

All of Erik ten Hag’s backroom staff remain in place at Old Trafford, with Ruud van Nistelrooy currently taking charge of the team as the interim manager.

The former United striker will lead the team against Leicester City on Wednesday (30 October) in the EFL Cup, and Football Insider revealed that he is interested in the position permanently.

Ten Hag got his way over the summer by making changes on the coaching side, but their futures remain in the air after his dismissal.

Football Insider revealed that Amorim has spoken with United in the last few days about taking over at Old Trafford after the club parted ways with Ten Hag as the club sits 14th in the Premier League table, and he is the heavy favourite to be the next boss.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that Amorim would like someone in place in the coaching setup who already knows and understands the club’s predicament.

The 39-year-old has his own ideas about what he wants to do at United, but he will discuss keeping existing coaches on with club chiefs.

Ruben Amorim still wants to bring his own team to Man United

Amorim is set to have talks about retaining United’s existing coaching staff, but he would also like the scope to bring in his own team too.

The current Sporting boss would like to have some familiar coaches with him as he embarks on the Premier League for the first time in his managerial career.

Football Insider reported that even though Amorim is the current favourite for the job, United’s CEO Omar Berrada has held talks with Xavi Hernandez about the role too.
