Ryan Bennett has signed a contract with Swansea City minutes before the closure of the window as Tottenham finalise the signing of Joe Rodon, Football Insider understands.
Both defender deals are now expected to be announced this evening on a dramatic deadline day.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Bennett has joined Swansea from Wolves on a permanent deal after arriving for a medical earlier this afternoon.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Bennett has put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Swansea.
Rodon is set to follow suit by signing a Tottenham agreement after the club submitted a deal sheet to the Premier League.
That is the process for deals not formalised by the deadline cut-off, but which can then be completed soon afterwards.
Football Insider broke the news early this afternoon that Spurs had secured a breakthrough in their pursuit of the 22-year-old Wales international.
Rodon is set to join on a straight-cash deal for a fee of around £15million.
That is short of Swansea’s £18m asking price but still represents a huge fee in the current market for a player who graduated from their academy.
Spurs offered fringe stars to sweeten the transfer and get close to Swansea’s £15m valuation of their 6ft 3in defender.
But Swansea knocked back a number of suggestions including USA international Cameron Carter-Vickers and other young players at Spurs.
