Exclusive: Sheffield United work on agreeing wide man new deal
Sheffield United are working on tying wing-back Enda Stevens to a new contract, Football Insider can reveal.
The 29-year-old has more than two years remaining on his current deal but has been a fixture for Chris Wilder’s side during their remarkable rise.
A Bramall Lane source has told Football Insider that manager Wilder is keen for Stevens to be granted an extension and talks are likely to get underway soon.
United are keen to reward Stevens for his performances with new and improved terms to replace the agreement expiring in the summer of 2022.
Remarkably, the 14-times Republic of Ireland international was playing in League Two four years ago.
But he is playing the best football of his career as a left-sided wing-back and has been a revelation since United fended off “massive” Chelsea interest to sign him from Portsmouth in 2017.

Stevens has made a big impact in the Premier League this season, starting all 27 of high-flying United’s matches in the division.
He was also in the XI for 45 of United’s 46 league matches last season, scoring four goals and supplying seven assists from his defensive role.
Stevens has made 121 appearances for the Blades, more than any other club in his extensive professional career, much of which has been played out in the lower leagues and in his native Ireland.
United do not have a Premier League fixture this weekend due to the League Cup final tomorrow and are next in action in their FA Cup fifth-round tie against Reading on Tuesday night.
In other Sheffield United news, it can be REVEALED that the club are set to offer midfielder deal amid £25million interest.
