Exclusive: Top pundit in raptures over what he's seen from Turnbull pre-Celtic v Hearts
Alan Hutton has been wowed by Celtic midfielder David Turnbull and claimed his performances have eased the pressure on Neil Lennon.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Scotland full-back claimed the 21-year-old has been a “revelation” since he starred against Lille last week.
Turnbull was handed just his second Hoops start last Thursday in the Europa League and scored the winning goal in their 3-2 victory over the French side.
He retained his place in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Kilmarnock as Celtic recorded back-to-back wins to end a run of just two victories in 12 games.
“We all knew he was a fantastic player at Motherwell,” Hutton told Football Insider.
“Apart from their recent form, Celtic have played at such a high level it’s been difficult for him to breakthrough.

“Sometimes it takes a situation like this, he’s come in and taken his chance and he’s been a revelation for them. Him and a couple of others have turned their form around with the Lille game and the game against Kilmarnock.
“He thoroughly deserves his position in the team and I hope Lennon sticks by that because he’s worked so hard to get there and he deserves to be in that team at the moment.
“It’s helped with the pressure on Lennon definitely.
“I think when you’re in such a bad situation you need someone like that to step up and lift the team and the manager.
“He brought him in, we all knew he was a good player, he hadn’t played much but now all the fans are talking about him. He’s diverting the heat from the bad to the good.
“Soro has come in and done so well too. Hazard as well.
“These small situations are actually helping him and relieving the pressure a wee bit. I do hope he keeps with it.”
