Exclusive: Tottenham ‘confident’ of agreeing Archie Gray deal after hijack
Tottenham are “confident” of signing Leeds United’s Archie Gray this summer after hijack Brentford’s deal, sources have told Football Insider.
The Bees had a £40million bid, including add-ons, accepted by the Championship side and were in pole position to secure the 18-year-old.
But Spurs have ambushed their Premier League rivals, with Football Insider exclusively revealing on Sunday morning that he was now set to join Spurs after they made a late swoop for the Leeds sensation.
Despite seemingly having the deal over the line on Saturday after Gray underwent a medical at the club, Brentford are now resigned to the right-back joining Spurs instead of them.
Tottenham would be signing a promising footballer
Gray impressed several top clubs due to his performances last season for Leeds, catching the eye of many scouts with his efforts throughout the previous campaign.
His ability to play in various positions at such a young age showcased a level of maturity that isn’t always common in a player at that stage in their career.
Gray started 47 of his 52 matches last season for the Whites, playing a pivotal role in their attempts to gain promotion back to the Premier League, despite ultimately missing out following a play-off final defeat against Southampton.

The expected transfer will come as disappointing news for Leeds fans, especially since Gray only signed a new contract with the club in January of this year, extending his deal until 2028.
In other news, Tottenham are expected to sell a £20million-rated star this summer.
