Exclusive: Tottenham land £10m windfall

Tottenham are likely to have earned around £10million from their pre-season tour of Asia, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs faced Arsenal in the first north London derby to be played outside of the UK in the newly opened Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong on 31 July.

Thomas Frank’s side secured a 1-0 victory over the Gunners, with Pape Matar Sarr scoring the only goal of the game.

Tottenham then headed to South Korea to face Newcastle United, where they drew 1-1 at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on 3 August.

Brennan Johnson’s early goal was cancelled out by Harvey Barnes, with former captain Son Heung-min playing his final game for the club before completing his move to MLS side Los Angeles FC.

Sources say Tottenham are likely to have banked between £8-10million from their pre-season tour of Asia.

Spurs continued their preparations for the new season against Bayern Munich on Thursday (7 August), where they were beaten 4-0 at the Allianz Arena.

Frank’s side will now play in the Super Cup against PSG on 13 August before getting their Premier League campaign underway at home to Burnley on 16 August.

Tottenham in talks over £20m naming rights deal

Tottenham have dramatically improved their commercial revenue in recent years as they continue to cash in on opportunities at their stadium.

The north London giants’ latest accounts for 2023-24 revealed their turnover fell from £549.6million in 2022-23 to £528.2million, but that was driven by a significant drop in Uefa prize money.

However, Tottenham’s commercial revenue surged from £227.7million to £255.2million across the same period.

Spurs remain in talks over a lucrative stadium naming rights deal after failing to reach an agreement since the state-of-the-art facility opened in 2019.

It is believed chairman Daniel Levy has been holding out for a deal in excess of £20million.

Harry Kane in line for sensational Tottenham return

In terms of transfer activity, Football Insider revealed on 8 August Harry Kane could be in line for a sensational Tottenham return.

While any move is extremely unlikely to happen this month, talk about the 32-year-old’s future is expected to accelerate in January and into next summer’s transfer window.

Kane has a £56million release clause in his contract that will become active in 2026, with Spurs understood to have positioned themselves to take full advantage.

The England captain, who joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham for £100million in 2023, has registered 85 goals and 26 assists in 96 appearances for the Bundesliga champions.
