Exclusive: Tottenham plan to sell 10-cap international, ex-Spur blames Mourinho

Michael Brown has blamed the “uncertainty” under Jose Mourinho for Juan Foyth’s impending exit from Tottenham.

The former Spurs midfielder, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, believes a change of manager and tactics has hurt the Argentina international’s development in north London.

As revealed by Football Insider, Spurs are set to tell the 22-year-old to find a new club in the summer transfer window after failing to make an impression under Jose Mourinho.

The centre-back has started just twice under Mourinho since the Portuguese boss took charge back in November.

Brown believes that the departure of Mauricio Pochettino has thrown things like tactics into the air at Spurs and that Foyth is set to be a casualty of the change.

Asked by Football Insider what he thought had gone wrong for the defender, Brown said: “I think the uncertainty under the manager. You expect good things from these international players.

“Sometimes it just doesn’t work out with a change of country, a change of the style of play. There’s been such uncertainty with the way Spurs have played, managers have changed, they’ve gone to a back four, a back three, regular changes.

“It just hasn’t worked out.”

Foyth has a total of 32 appearances under his belt since joining Spurs from Estudiantes, as well as 10 caps for Argentina.

However, he has featured just seven times across all competitions this season, with only one of his outings coming as a start in the Premier League.

In other Tottenham news, Jose Mourinho is in talks over a “great” free transfer.
