Exclusive: Tottenham’s priority summer signing revealed

Tottenham are planning to strengthen in central midfield with a marquee new signing this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs expanded their options with deals for young duo Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray last year (2024) but will go even further in the upcoming off-season.

The Lilywhites do plan to offload some senior stars but their first thought will go towards strengthening in the midfield department.

Tottenham are also planning to hand Rodrigo Bentancur a long-term new contract at the club.

Tottenham ready to bolster central midfield

Meanwhile, Spurs will hold crunch talks with Yves Bissouma – with a potential exit more likely for the Mali international.

Both players are currently out of contract in June 2026 – meaning they could open talks over a free transfer in less than 12 months.

Tottenham are planning to refresh their midfield options with a new arrival after a chastening 2024-25 campaign which has been plagued by injuries.

Tottenham race to sign Southampton sensation Dibling

Meanwhile, industry insider Mick Brown has told Football Insider (1 March) that Crystal Palace have joined Tottenham in the race to sign Southampton star Tyler Dibling.

Dibling is certain to leave Southampton in the likelihood that they are relegated at the end of the season.

Man United and Newcastle are also interested in the Saints star, who is just 19 and has hit four goals in 28 games this term.
