Exclusive: Bruce claims West Ham star 'No good to anyone' as Sullivan works on sale
Alex Bruce admits that West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere is “no good to anybody” if he cannot manage to stay fit and injury-free.
The former Leeds and Hull defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists the England international has “marvellous” ability but that his body has struggled with the demands of the Premier League.
As revealed exclusively by Football Insider, West Ham are prepared to let the 28-year-old leave the London Stadium for nothing as transfer chief David Sullivan works on finding a buyer for him.
He has been missing since October after a hernia problem which required surgery last month, as revealed by Football Insider.
Bruce insists that Wilshere has got the talent to perform at the very top but that his current injury problems make him virtually worthless.
Bruce told Football Insider: “Ultimately, for Jack’s career, it’s the demands of being a professional footballer and obviously being in the Premier League, it’s huge, huge demands physically.

“Unfortunately for Jack he’s constantly picked up these injuries to his ankles and what have you, it’s really set him back. Listen, a fit Jack Wilshere could play for anybody.
“He’s got such marvellous ability but obviously the biggest Achilles heel for him has been getting fit and on the pitch.
“When you can’t get fit and on the pitch, it doesn’t matter how much ability you’ve got, you’re no good to anyone.”
Wilshere has just 16 appearances under his belt for West Ham despite signing back in the summer of 2018.
Half of those games have come this season, although only four of those eight were among the starting XI.
