Exclusive: West Ham PSR update today

West Ham are not facing a profit and sustainability (PSR) issue heading into the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Hammers have endured a miserable season as they currently sit 17th in the Premier League table following several disappointing performances.

However, they are under no threat of relegation after Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton’s immediate return to the Championship has already been confirmed.

Graham Potter has endured a poor start to life at the London Stadium, having secured just three victories in his 15 matches in charge since replacing Julen Lopetegui in January.

Football Insider revealed on 14 April Potter is now demanding to be heavily backed this summer as he looks to get West Ham moving in the right direction again.

There have been questions asked over whether that will be possible after West Ham Football reported on 28 April a club source has revealed the East Londoners will breach the Premier League’s financial rules unless they sell players this summer.

Under the PSR rules, top-flight clubs are permitted to lose £105million over a rolling three-year period.

Sources have told Football Insider West Ham are not currently facing a PSR issue as they would have moved their financial year-end from May to June if that were the case, allowing them to sell players once the transfer window opens on 1 June.

However, the club could face issues covering their costs if they continue to finish just above the relegation zone in the coming years after budgeting for a top-half finish.

West Ham PSR capacity revealed after record-breaking update

West Ham posted a record-breaking revenue last season after their turnover increased from £236.7million in 2022-23 to £269.8million.

That was driven by their improved ninth-place finish under David Moyes as well as higher broadcast income after reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

The Hammers also managed to turn their £17.1million loss in 2022-23 into a £57.2million net profit for last season.

That was aided by the £105million sale of Declan Rice to Arsenal in the summer of 2023.

Finance expert Stefan Borson previously told Football Insider West Ham have close to £200million of PSR capacity following Rice’s move to north London.

West Ham would accept £70m Mohammed Kudus offer

The Hammers could be presented with an opportunity to boost their summer transfer budget after Mohammed Kudus has been heavily linked with an exit.

Football Insider revealed on 25 April West Ham would accept a £70million offer for Kudus after Liverpool and Saudi clubs have shown an interest in signing him.

The Ghana international, who is under contract until 2028, is understood to have a release clause in his contract that will be active for the first 10 days of July.

Kudus has registered four goals and three assists in 31 appearances this season.
