Noel Whelan has been left wowed by the prospect of Leeds United signing Liverpool forward Divock Origi.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, the former Leeds forward delivered his verdict as reports suggest the Whites are eyeing up two Liverpool players.
Both Origi and fellow Reds forward Rhian Brewster are wanted by Marcelo Bielsa, according to the Mirror.
Origi, 25, is open to a permanent move as he looks to secure regular first-team football after he started just seven Premier League games last season.
After an impressive loan spell at Swansea in the second half of last season, Brewster, 20, could leave Anfield on another temporary deal to continue his development.
Asked by Football Insider which of Origi and Brewster he would prefer, Whelan said: “They’re both very good players in their own right.
“You’ve got one up and coming player who has been out on loan and done very well with the spell he had.
“But you’ve got to look at it now, you’re in the Premier League, and as much as Rhian Brewster did very well at Swansea, that’s Championship football.
“We’ve already got somebody who scored 17 goals in the Championship in Patrick Bamford.
“If he does get double figures, he’s going to have to work very, very hard for it and take every chance that comes his way.
“For me, I would like to see a more established, a more experienced player, somebody who knows the Premier League and that is Divock Origi.
“He covers all kind of bases for me and probably does for Bielsa as well beacuse we’ve seen him play out wide as well which we know Bielsa likes.
“He likes players who can adapt.”
