Exclusive: Wolves and Brentford in race to sign Plymouth Argyle star Morgan Whittaker
Wolves and Brentford are battling to sign Plymouth Argyle star Morgan Whittaker this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Lazio, Celta Vigo and Stuttgart are also in the race for the winger, with the Championship club valuing him at around £15million.
Whittaker was one of Plymouth’s standout performers in the second tier last season, having registered 20 goals and nine assists in 50 appearances.
Lazio have held a long-term interest in the 23-year-old after the Serie A giants tried to sign him in January this year.
The former England youth international is under contract at Home Park until 2027.
Wolves and Brentford looking to land Morgan Whittaker deal
Whittaker has spent the best part of the past two years with Plymouth after initially joining the club on loan in the summer of 2022.
Despite Swansea City exercising a recall clause on the attacker in January 2023, he re-joined Plymouth permanently in a £1million deal last summer.
The Englishman started in 48 of his 50 appearances last season as his 19 league goals helped his side secure another year in the Championship.
Wolves and Brentford are now battling to secure the winger’s services this summer following his impressive performances in the second tier.
But Lazio, Celta Vigo and Stuttgart also remain in the frame to sign Whittaker as they look to persuade him a switch abroad could be the ideal move to continue his development.

Football Insider first revealed earlier this year Brentford were eyeing a potential move for Whittaker, while Lazio made a last-ditch bid to sign him in the January window.
Plymouth are now looking for a fee in the region of £15million to sanction a move for their star man this summer.
