Exclusive: ‘Wolves star Matheus Cunha sure-fire hit for Eddie Howe at Newcastle’
Matheus Cunha is guaranteed to prove a success at Newcastle with a move from Wolves in the transfer window, according to Chris Waddle.
The Magpies’ former star winger told Football Insider exclusively that whilst the Brazilian has a fiery temper, he is an “outstanding talent”.
At times this season, Cunha has single-handedly dragged Wolves up the table with his stunning performances.
The former Atletico Madrid forward has developed a knack of scoring important, and often improbably goals.
However, his passion for the game can sometimes translate into anger, as evidenced by Cunha grabbing an Ipswich coach’s glasses earlier in the season, and he was sent off for a headbutt on Milos Kerkez in Wolves’ FA Cup tie with Bournemouth.

Matheus Cunha a target for Newcastle amid Alexander Isak uncertainty
Cunha is a target for Newcastle this summer, but it would be a surprise to see him join as a direct replacement for Liverpool target Alexander Isak.
The Brazilian is often wrongly profiled as a striker, given his goal-scoring abilities, but he has thrived in behind a more conventional number nine.
Signing Cunha may lead to Eddie Howe needing to alter his tactical system, as he tends to run a conventional 4-3-3 system.
Alternatively, the 25-year-old could be used as a left-winger, a position he has occasionally played.
However, given Newcastle’s problems with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules (PSR) last summer, the club may need to sell before they can buy the former Hertha Berlin man.

Matheus Cunha a ‘great fit’ for Newcastle says Chris Waddle
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, via NewBettingSites.uk, former Newcastle star Waddle explained why he would love to see the club prioritise signing Cunha over a player like Bryan Mbeumo.
The former England international said: “Cunha’s a top talent. Looks a little bit mardy at times! Spits the dummy out a little bit, he’s a little bit like Bruno Fernandes at times.
“But that’s his passion, I think that’s his desire and gets frustrated sometimes if the players are not on his wavelength, which does happen, I’ve seen it.
“He’s an outstanding talent. Listen, he can make goals and score goals and I’m sure there’ll be not just in England about eight, 10 clubs who would love to get his signature.
“So he’ll be in demand and I’m sure he’ll probably say it’s time to move on from Wolves but there’ll not be a shortage in clubs and that price could go quite high. So that may knock a few clubs back.

“There’s only a certain amount of clubs can pay, you know, the money you’re looking at here, by the way, you’re looking at what 80 to 100 million. That is a lot of money.
“So there’s only certain clubs that can pay that. But wherever he goes, the way Newcastle play, he would definitely be a hit there because they’re a very attacking team. He’d get a lot of the ball and he’d be able to show his abilities and what he’s got, we’re talking about a lot of ability here.
“So, yeah, he’d be a great fit for Newcastle the way they play.”
